PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive body high in sensitivity and superior in repetition characteristics by using as an electric charge generating material a compound represented by a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer is formed by dispersing the charge generating material containing at least one of the compounds represented by formula I and a charge transfer material into a binder resin on a conductive substrate, or it is formed by laminating on the conductive substrate a charge generating layer containing said charge generating material and a charge transfer layer containing a charge transfer material. The photosensitive layer of this type is used usually in a negatively charging system, and the charge generating layer and the charge transfer layer is reversed in the order, and used in a positive charging system. In formula I, each of R1 and R2 is H, halogen, nitro, alkoxy, or optionally substituted aryl, or such alkyl, and X is O, S, Se, or dimethylmethylene, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be high in sensitivity and superior in repetition characteristics in both cases of positive and negative charging. |
