HYDRAULIC CLEARANCE REGULATOR

PURPOSE: To improve durability by engaging a member having a ball end to a socket mounted to an end of a plunger and lubricating the clearance between the socket and the member with engine oil. CONSTITUTION: A socket 60 is attached to an end of a plunger 34 of a hydraulic clearance adjuster 20 mounted to a rocker arm assembly. A cylindrical member 40 having a ball end 62 is engaged to the socket 60. A port 66 is formed through the plunger 34. Engine oil is supplied from the port 66 to the clearance between the socket 60 and the member 40 to lubricate boundary faces. As a consequence, durability of apparatuses can be improved.
