PURPOSE:To suppress the discoloration anisotropy in a cell and to improve the light resistance by parting an orienting film in a rubbing direction between transparent picture element electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display element formed by injecting a guest-host liquid crystal compound between two transparent substrates, e.g. glass substrates 2 which have transparent picture element electrodes 3 over their entire surfaces and have orienting films 1 parted in the rubbing direction 4 is used as a sample. Thus, the orienting films 1 are parted in the rubbing direction 4, so the anisotropy of discoloration is caused in orienting film units which are parted. Consequently, the discoloration anisotropy of the whole liquid crystal display element (cell) is reducible and the light resistance is improved. |
