NEW MATERIAL:A compound having a rhodanine derivative of formula I [wherein R, X, Y and Z are each an alkylene or an (un)substituted arylene]. EXAMPLE:A compound of formula II. USE:A trisazo compound having a rhodanine derivative, useful as a charge generator of an electrophotographic photo-receptor. PREPARATION:A rhodanine derivative of formula III is reacted with an aldehyde group-containing azo compound of formula IV.
