PURPOSE:To improve strength and oxidative resistance of ceramic moldings by housing tar, etc., and ceramic moldings having open pores into a stretchable material, dipping the material into a pressure transmitting liquid, pressurizing the pressure-transmitting liquid and impregnating the tar, etc., into the open pores of the moldings. CONSTITUTION:A pressure transmitting liquid 2 (e.g., water) is housed into a pressure-resistant container 1. A tar, pitch or thermosetting resin 4 (e.g., furfuryl alcohol) and ceramic moldings 5 (e.g., carbon moldings) having open pores are housed into a stretchable material (e.g., rubber) to dip the stretchable material 3 into the pressure transmitting liquid 2. Then the pressure-transmitting liquid 2 is pressurized and the pressure having >=20kg/cm<2> is applied to the pitch or thermosetting resin 4 through the stretchable material 3 to impregnate the tar, pitch r thermosetting resin 4 into at least >=80% of surface in the open pore of the ceramic moldings 5. |
