PURPOSE:To reduce the dimension and weight of a device by laminating a gas generating agent in thin film form onto the inner surface of a bag body and connecting an ignition device with the gas generating agent layer, in a device in which a driver is restraint-protected by expanding the bag body by the combustion gas of the gas generating agent. CONSTITUTION:As for an air bag device 1, the basic part of a bag body 2 is nipped between a retainer 3 and a fixed plate 4, and fixed by bolts 5 and nuts 6. The bag body 2 is formed by laminating a coating layer 8, gas generating agent layer 9, and a protector cover 10 in succession onto the inner surface or a basic cloth 7. A part of the protector cover 10 is cut so that the gas generating agent layer 9 is exposed, and a heater 11 is arranged. Further, an ignition conductor wire 12 is connected with the heater 11, and after a grommet 13 is allowed to penetrate through the ignition conductor wire 12, said conductor wire 12 is connected with an electric power source 15 through a switch 14. Therefore, when a vehicle collides, the gas generating agent layer 9 is combusted, and the bag body 2 is expanded by the gas generated in combustion. |
