The invention relates to a switching device which switches in a time-dependent manner and by means of which a switching process can be initiated delayed in time with respect to a predetermined output signal. Said switching device has a switching pressure medium accommodation space (2), which forms a delay space (9) and into which a pressure medium filling channel (3) opens. It furthermore contains a snap-action switching element (4) which is provided with a switching part (6) and on which there is arranged a surface (8) on which pressure acts and which is connected by the pressure medium to the delay space (9), for the switching pressure medium of the delay space (9). Together with its switching part (6), the switching element (4) has two switch positions, namely a quiescent position which is assumed when the pressure values in the delay space (9) are low, and an operating position which is assumed after snapping over has taken place in the event of a relatively high switching pressure value. <IMAGE>
