The invention concerns a new transport medium for microorganisms, in particular Gram-negative, Gram-positive and anaerobic bacteria, the medium optionally being contained, in ready-to-use form, in sterile sealed transport tubes or bottles. The transport medium consists of 2-10 g of agar, 1-3 of meat extract, 0.1-1 g of sodium chloride, 0.1-0.5 g of potassium chloride, 0.1-0.5 g of calcium chloride, 0.1-0.5 g of magnesium chloride, 0.5-2 g of sodium thioglucolate and 2-10 g of sodium glycerine phosphate, made up to 1,000 g with water, and the mixture has a pH of 7.3 +/- 0.1 at 25 DEG C
