PURPOSE:To shorten the data holding time of a packet retransmitting buffer by making packet retransmission control possible between a transmitting exchange station and a receiving exchange station as well. CONSTITUTION:If two data packets, for instance, for which an answer from a data receiving terminal 4 is not yet confirmed exist among the data packets transmitted from the receiving exchange station 3 to the data receiving terminal 4, the receiving exchange station 3 transmits a receiving exchange station confirming answer packet 16 whose confirming order number is 2 toward the transmitting exchange station 2. The transmitting exchange station 2 stops a retransmitting timing monitor 6, and releases the copy of a transmission data packets 5 and 10 held in the packet retransmitting buffer 7, and clears it. Thus, the data holding time of the packet retransmitting buffer 7 is extremely shortened compared with the past.
