The invention relates to a radial tyre for passenger cars with a reinforcement inlay consisting of at least two layers which are arranged either entirely or partially radially outside a belt. According to the invention, the reinforcement inlay is formed from at least two layers made of rubberised strips consisting of a number of cords which are wound spirally virtually simultaneously over the belt starting from one end of the said belt. The winding angle with respect to the circumferential direction of the tyre being in the region from 0.1@ to 0.4@. The strips preferably cross the reinforcement cords of the outermost layer of the belt. It is also preferable for the top strip to be narrower than the bottom strip which is nearest to the outermost layer of the belt.
