OXYGEN CONCENTRATION METER AND METHOD OF STABILIZING OUTPUT OF OXYGEN CONCENTRATION METER

PURPOSE:To stably measure the concn. of trace oxygen by providing a measuring chamber having a Harsh type measuring electrode in communication with a humidifying cell and adding a silicone antifoaming agent into an alkaline electrolyte in the humidifying cell. CONSTITUTION:The measuring chamber 14 having the Harsh type measuring electrode 15 is provided in communication with the humidifying cell 11 of an oxygen concn. meter and the silicone antifoaming agent is added to the alkaline electrolyte 13 in the humidifying cell 11. A gaseous sample is passed into the electrolyte 13 from a sample introducing pipe 12 and is bubbled. The gaseous sample is simultaneously introduced into the measuring chamber 14 and the measurement is executed. The disturbance of the surface of a detecting electrode 18 by splashing of the splashes of the electrolyte 13 and the generation of the multilayers of bubbles by air bubbles 20 are prevented by adding the antifoaming agent to the electrolyte 13 and, therefore, the concn. of the trace oxygen is stably measured.
