The instrument has an ink reservoir (45) which can slide inside a barrel (47). When the instrument is used, a cap (50) is removed from the upper end and a second cap (49) is removed from the writing tip. The second writing cap is then used to press the ink reservoir downwards inside the barrel. This action opens a valve (42) and creates a suction effect which draws in outside air through passageways (9',5,5',12,13,16,17).
