PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, containing a palatinose condensate as an active ingredient, extremely effectively used as a propagation promoter having high selectivity for Lactobacillus bifidus bacterium and capable of contriving inhibition of propagation of enteral putrefying bacteria, enhancement of immunological function, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains a palatinose condensate as an active ingredient in an amount of preferably 1-70wt.%. Furthermore, the palatinose condensate is preferably obtained by adding citric acid to a 75wt./wt.% aqueous solution of the palatinose, regulating the pH to 3.5-4.4 and concentrating the regulated solution under a reduced pressure of -650--750mmHg vacuum degree for 1-60 min so as to provide 120-150 deg.C solution temperature after completing vacuum concentration. |
