In order to produce a differential compensation in the driven axles of rail vehicles in bends of tracks, a wheel which is divided into an inner segment and an outer segment is driven by the power-output side of the drive motor. With the aid of electric motors which are built into the inner segment and which engage ... via the toothed rack which is integrated in the outer segment, the outer segment is moved in relation to the inner one. Since the drive wheels can be driven from here, a relative movement of the left-hand and the right-hand drive wheel takes place which then produces the differential compensation. In addition, with this arrangement the amplitudes of the sinusoidal curves in which the vehicle moves are reduced, which contributes to protection against derailing.
