PURPOSE:To improve thermal shock resistance and dimensional accuracy by adding a flocculant to an aq. suspension of Li2O.Al2O3.nSiO2 ceramics as starting material, forming a water-contg. molded body by a wet paper making process and subjecting the molded body to compacting with dies, drying and sintering. CONSTITUTION:The flocculant is added to the aq. suspension of Li2O.Al2O3.SiO2 ceramics (n=2-9) as starting material and the water-contg. sheetlike molded body (water-contg. green sheet) is formed by a wet paper making process. This green sheet is compacted with dies having rugged surfaces and simultaneously the sheet is made rugged. This rugged sheet is then dried and sintered to obtain a jig for heat treatment made of a low expansion refractory having 10-60% porosity and <=2.0X10<-6>/ deg.C coefft. of thermal expansion at 25-1,000 deg.C. The compacting is preferably carried out so that the sheet is shrunk by 0-1% at the time of drying and by 0-2% at the time of sintering. |
