The chamber-like detergent-feeding devices built into a door of a dishwasher can be closed by a lid. They serve to receive powdered detergent and clear rinses. The detergent-feeding device is also to be suitable for liquid detergent. In order to be able to add liquid detergent in a precisely metered amount into the cleaning chamber of the appliance, a motor-driven pump in connection with a storage container for the detergent is arranged in the device housing. With the detergent-feeding device, a defined amount of detergent is sucked out of the storage container via the pump and dispensed into the appliance in a precisely metered fashion via a dispensing part.
