PURPOSE:To inhibit pitting and to effectively remove a white layer formed in the surface of nitrided steel by adding an inhibitor to sodium pyrosulfate showing the same reaction to iron as an acid. CONSTITUTION:The inhibitor is added to the aq. sodium pyrosulfate soln., e.g., by 1%. Nitrided steel is immersed in the sodium pyrosulfate soln., e.g., for 120sec. The white layer of the nitrided steel is removed without causing pitting and the surface state is improved. |
