In order to obtain continuously stable results from gas analysis apparatus e.g. for use in the automation of pig iron and steel manufacture, the gas analysis apparatus is placed in a first enclosure e.g. a box, and this is itself placed in a second enclosure e.g. a cupboard, the pressure rate of flow and moisture content of the gas to be analyzed being precisely regulated and the temperature of the analysis apparatus also being regulated by two separate processes, one in the first enclosure and the other in the second enclosure. The moisture content of the gas to be analyzed is regulated by passing the gas through chambers in which the water vapour is frozen out and the absolute pressure of the gas is controlled by means of pressure regulators one upstream and the other downstream of the analyzer. The temperature of the first enclosure containing the analysis apparatus is controlled by a thermostat which regulates the flow of heated air ducted through the enclosure and vented to atmosphere. The second enclosure has its temperature controlled to a value halfway between that of the first enclosure and the ambient atmosphere by closed-circuit circulation of air using fans.</p> |
