A method of conditioning fabrics comprises contacting the fabrics in an aqueous environment with a fabric conditioning agent. The fabric conditioning agent comprises an organofunctional polyalkyl siloxane having the general formula (I) <CHEM> wherein each R is independently an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, each of R<1>, R<2>, and R<3> is independently an alkyl group containing 1 to 24 carbon atoms, or R<3> is the group (CH2)qCOO<-> where q is 0 to 10, A is divalent hydrocarbon group interrupted by or substituted with one or more oxygen containing groups, X is an alkoxylated group, Z is a monovalent anion or the equivalent thereof, n and m are positive integers, p is a positive integer and r is a positive integer or zero such as to render the siloxane electrically neutral. |
