PURPOSE:To compose a smaller and more compact relay with an insulation barrier, etc. unneeded to provide and a high withstand voltage characteristic kept by sealing ion hexafluoride within a housing. CONSTITUTION:Though the gap between a movable contact 32 and a fixed contact 13a becomes narrower or wider at the time of opening/closing a contact so that arc is apt to occur between them, the generation of so that arc is constrained with the ion hexafluoride, sealed within a housing, having a high insulation property and the shock and destruction voltage between contacts becoming high since the ion hexafluoride is sealed within the housing. For example, the shock and destruction voltage, of the relay electrode A in which the ion hexafluoride is sealed at a pressure of 2kg/cm<2> in the housing in which the contact mechanism having a 4mm air gap is housed between two facing spherical electrodes, is approximately two times that of the relay B in which a pressure air of 2kg/cm<2> is sealed. This causes the consumption of contacts 32 and 13a to be reduced and their functions kept as highly reliable contact mechanism for a long time. |
