PURPOSE:To perform the takeout of a monolith catalyzer speedily without mixing any impurities by pressurizing and deforming a cylindrical case of a mobolith catalytic converter in the radial direction, and thereby breaking the monolith catalyzer in this cylindrical case. CONSTITUTION:A monolith catalytic converter 1 forms a case 2 in joining each of vertical half bodies 2a, 2b with each other by a flange-form joint 2c. Then, a monolith catalyzer 5 is filled up in the inner part of the case 2 via a cushion material 4. In addition, an inflow port 3 and an outflow port 3a for exhaust to be connected each to exhaust pipes P1, P2 are opened to both ends of the case 2. At this time, when the catalyzer 5 is taken out of the converter 1, the case 2 is pressurized and deformed in the radial direction with each of vertical dies or the like, while this catalyzer 5 is broken down. After that, small pieces of this broken catalyzer 5 are taken out of the opening parts 3, 3a at both sides of the case 2. |
