Control apparatus for a water treatment plant comprising a treatment tank 10 and a regenerant tank 14, includes a main control valve 21, an ejector 22 for drawing regenerant from the tank 14 and passing it to the tank 10, a regenerant flow control apparatus 23, and a timer mechanism 24 for operating the valve 21. Such operation provides for (1) service, in which raw water is treated by passage downwards through exchange material B in the tank 10; (2) backwash; (3) regeneration, in which raw water is passed through the ejector 22 and into the tank 10, drawing with it regenerant from the tank 14 via the flow control apparatus 23 until air enters the latter and permits a ball float 110 to engage a seating 111, the flow of water preferably being continued after this, to allow a slow rinse; (4) rapid rinse, the rate of flow to drain being controlled by a member 106a; which also produces a back pressure, and thereby causes part of the drain liquid to refill the regenerant flow controller 23 and the tank 14, the amount of liquid so passing being predetermined by the timer 24 and a pressure-responsive flow control device 115.</p> |
