Temperature responsive control apparatus (2) comprises a first part (4), a second part (6), and a memory metal torsion spring (8) for moving the first and the second parts (4, 6) relatively to one to one another in dependence upon changes of temperature. A basing spring (64) opposing spring (8) reduces hysteresis. Another spring may be used to assist spring (8). The apparatus is used to operate ventilators, louvres, flap valves and windows in buildings, greenhouses and air conditioning systems. If the ventilator or window is locked the spring (8) may be disconnected from one of the parts to prevent overstressing. <IMAGE> |
