PURPOSE:To obtain a planographic original plate material capable of sufficiently retaining hydrophilicity of a non-image area, free of generation of scumming and having high plate wear characteristics, by incorporating a resin comprising a polymeric component having a functional group for forming a carboxyl group upon decomposition as a main constituent of a binder of an image-receiving layer, and causing the image-receiving layer to comprise the binder and a crosslinking agent. CONSTITUTION:A resin comprising a polymeric component having at least one functional group for forming at least one carboxyl group upon decomposition is incorporated as a main constituent of a binder of an image-receiving layer of a planographic original plate material, and the image-receiving layer comprises a crosslinking agent as well as the binder. The planographic original plate material, when used as an offset original plate, is free of generation of total scumming or dot form scumming, has excellent desensitizability, and has excellent plate wear characteristics. The amount of the crosslinking agent in the resin is preferably 0.1-30wt.%. The resin is a homopolymer or copolymer in which the amount of the polymeric component having the functional group for forming the carboxyl group upon decomposition is 30-100wt.%. |
