PURPOSE:To reduce the unevenness of the internal resistance of a battery and prevent any failure due to interal shortcircuit by subjecting nonwoven cloth made of thermoplastic resin to a drawing process, molding it into a cylindrical body with the bottom, and using it in the battery as a seamless seprator. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical body with the bottom that has less unevenness of outer diameter is manufactured by subjecting nonwoven cloth made of thermoplastic resin to a drawing process with a mold. The separator 3 of this cylindrical body with the bottom is inserted in the hollow section of a positive electrode black mix 2 that is pressurized and filled in a metal container 1 and an electrolyte is injected in it. Then, a gel-type negative electrode body 4 is put in the hollow section of the separator 3. A collecting rod 6 mounted on a negative electrode terminal sealing plate 5 by welding is inserted in the negative electrode body 4. Subsequently, an insulating packing 7 is inserted between the sealing plate 5 and the aperture section of the container 1 and the container 1 is sealed by bending the edge of its aperture section inward. A battery obtained in such a way will not generate any internal shortcircuit due to the release of the separator 3. |
