1-Methyl-5-p-toluoylpyrrol-2-acetic acid amides of formula (I) are prepd. by reacting NHRR1 with a deriv. of formula (II) at 0-35≦̸C in the presence of an aprotic or protic solvent, hydrolyzing the prod. and isolating the corresp. acid, and esterficating the corresp. acid with R2OH. In the formulas, R is H or (un)substd. C1-3 alkyl; R1 is (un)substd. alkyl, C1-4 cycloalkyl, or satd. organic acid or ester; R2 is H; X is halogen. (I) have a good anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-histamine activity.
