PURPOSE:To obtain a printing apparatus enabling the accurate erasure of a character already printed, by a method wherein the character already printed is erased by repeated typing, a carriage is slided a bit in the prescribed direction to the direction wherein the carriage is moved just before the typing, and the repeated typing is further conducted. CONSTITUTION:A printing ribbon 6 is lifted in the direction of an arrow by a ribbon shifting mechanism 1 to be interposed between a type wheel 3 and a typing paper sheet at the time of printing operation, and an erasing ribbon 7 is lifted in the same way to be interposed also between them at the time of erasing operation. Typing is conducted once through the intermediary of the erasing ribbon when the erasing operation is performed, and then a carriage is moved a bit in the reverse direction to the direction wherein the carriage is moved just before the typing. Then the typing is conducted once again. |
