The invention relates to a method for purifying blood associating a haemofiltration and a device for absorbing toxic substances, excess anionic/cationic elements and allowing correction of the acid/base balance. The device comprises extracorporeal circulation of the blood 1, 2 which passes through a haemofilter 3. The haemofiltrate 4 passes through a peristaltic pump 5 which expels 6 25 % (approximately 3 litres/24 hours) and the other part 7 passes into an absorbent cartridge 8. This cartridge contains superimposed layers of urease A, zirconium oxide C and phosphate B and finally activated charcoal D which will be used to remove the undesired elements from the haemofiltrate. This regenerated haemofiltrate 9 is filtered on an aerophobic membrane with 0.2 micron pore size 10 then reinjected 11 into the patient. The apparatus in contact with the blood or the haemofiltrate is sterile. This method is intended to be operated continuously except on changing the haemofilter or the absorption cartridge. The assembly is portable and allows the patient to keep his freedom of movement. <IMAGE> |
