The circuit for processing the object area converted to the binary image data with hardware to reduce the memory usage of the host computer. The circuit includes an A/D converter (20) for converting the video signal into digital signal, a binary converter (30) for converting the binary image data of the object and the background, a buffer memory (40) for storing the converted data, an area finding circuit (50) for detecting the object area, and a host computer (60) for recognising the actual area by processing the program with the output of the area finding circuit (50).
