The connector comprises a socket, intended to be fixed to a board, and a plug. The socket 12 includes an insulating body 22 fitted with means for fixing to the edge of the heat sink of a board 10, having two lateral faces substantially parallel to the faces of the board beyond the edge and a sheet (layer) of parallel electrical-contact tracks surrounding the parallel faces of the body and the tip (nose) of the body opposite the board, these being rigidly attached to each other and covered by a thin sheet of flexible material outside the electrical-connection zones, which are intended to provide permanent connection to the chips on the board, and outside two connection zones covering the lateral faces. The plug 14 includes two rows of contact fingers intended to bear on the contact zones by sliding over these zones when the plug is being inserted. <IMAGE>
