The invention relates to a device making it possible to decrease, or temporarily suppress, the pain caused by haemorrhoids. It is composed of a capsule of appropriate shape and dimensions, in which is placed a refrigerating product whose temperature is close to zero degrees centigrade. When it is inserted into the lower part of the rectum, the apparatus, by virtue of the cryogenic effect of the refrigerating product, decongests the painful area. The capsule can operate statically, by the action of the product which it contains, if necessary previously cooled; it can also be combined with an external system comprising a pump and a motor, which ensures free circulation of the refrigerating liquid throughout the device. <IMAGE>
