<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a cable from damaging by covering the outermost layer of a newly installed submarine cable with the same material as that of the outermost layer of an existing submarine cable near the intersection of the newly installed cable and the existing cable. CONSTITUTION:When a newly installed submarine cable 4 is laid to cross an existing submarine cable 1, if the material of the outermost layer of the cable 1 is different from that of the cable 4, a covering 5 of the same material as that of the outermost layer of the cable 1 is provided on the cable 4. Since the parts to be connected are formed of the same material, there is no possibility that either one of both is worn.</p> |
