<p>PURPOSE:To smoothly regulate and release the congestion of a packet switching device by causing a network control system to always patrol a date packet for testing so as to check the congested state of the exchange. CONSTITUTION:When a control section (CTL) 42 is periodically actuated by a timer (TM) 43 in a network management system(NMS) 4, The CTL 42 reads out route information from a memory(MM) 44 and sets the information and the current time. A patrol packet transmitting-receiving section(PPRS) 41 connects the patrol packet to a node(ND) 1 and transmits the packet. At the ND 1, the current time is set to the received patrol packet. Upon completion of the communication with the NMS 4, the ND 1 communicates with another ND 2 and similar processes are carried out until the ND 2 communicates with an ND 3. At the NMS 4, the patrol packet is received and the CTL 42 finds the time difference between the adjacent nodes and compares the difference with a threshold. When the difference is larger than the threshold, the CTL 42 discriminates that the ND is in congestion and informs the congestion of the ND 2 to the other nodes so as to cause the other nodes to regulate calls to the ND 2.</p> |
