This is a protective helmet 1 comprising a rigid outer shell 2 including a descending rear part 3, capable of protecting the nape of the neck of a user, and an inner padding 17. The helmet includes rigid ear flaps 14, for protecting the ears of the user, fastened removably onto the said shell 2, and the inner padding 17 consists of a first semi-hard layer 18 fastened on the inner face of the shell and comprising transverse 19 and longitudinal 20 ventilation channels, which intersect and are open at each of their ends 22, 23, 24, 25, and a second layer 26 made from flexible material fastened onto the inner face of the said first layer 18 and perforated with holes 27 for the passage of air, opening out in the intersections 21 of the said longitudinal and transverse channels. <IMAGE>
