发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL ELEMENT
摘要 PURPOSE:To enable displaying of basically a positive mode so that the sharp, colorless and bright display is realized by using an OMI type liquid crystal element of a positive display as a base and combining a light source having large light emission energy in a wavelength range where the transmittance of the liquid crystal element body in a bright state is low with the liquid crystal element body. CONSTITUTION:The wavelength range where the light emission energy is high is confirmed by investigating the spectral characteristic of the light source which can be utilized and the respective parameters of the liquid crystal element body are set at optimum values within the range of 180 to 270 deg. twist angle and 0.4 to 0.7 retardation in such a manner that the transmittance of the liquid crystal element body decreases in the wavelength range where the light emission energy is high. The OMI type liquid crystal element of the positive display is used as the base and the light source having the large energy of the emitted light in the wavelength region of the range where the transmittance of the liquid crystal element body in the bright state is low is used and, therefore, the light of the wavelength region where the light is easily absorbed by the liquid crystal element body is much projected to the liquid crystal element body and the light transmitted through the liquid crystal element body eventually has the lower dependency on wavelength. Since the light of the wavelength region where the light is hardly transmitted through the liquid crystal element body is compensated by the light source, the colorless display is attained and the bright display of the liquid crystal element is executed.
