PURPOSE:To cause an erasing frequency to be small and to reduce a crosstalk by providing a flying erase head having a gap width ten-fold or above that of the gap length of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:At the time of erasing, an erasing head 3 is made into contact with the magnetic tape in preceding to a recording head 4, and an erasing signal erases data written beforehand by the erasing head 3 from an erasing amplifier 1 through a rotary transformer 2. When the erasing amplifier is a constant voltage drive, the intensity of an erasing magnetic field He by the erasing head 3 is made into HealphaE/omegaNe (Ne: number of turns, E: driving voltage of erasing amplifier, omega: angular frequency). As known from the expression, the erasing magnetic field He is made large when an erasing frequency fe is lowered. At the time of the selection of a gap width ge=8mum of the erasing head, an erasing current can be made small, and the problem of the crosstalk cannot be generated. |
