PURPOSE:To reduce dispersion penalty by inputting deviation between the surface temperature of an optical submarine repeater and a reference temperature which becomes the zero dispersion wavelength of an optical transmission path, and controlling the luminescent wavelength of a luminescent control type laser diode so as be matched with the zero dispersion wavelength of the transmission path. CONSTITUTION:The deviation between the surface temperature of the optical submarine repeater 6 detected by temperature detection 9 and the reference temperature in which the luminescent wavelength of the light output of the luminescent wavelength control type laser diode 18 becomes the zero dispersion wavelength of the transmission path is inputted a wavelength control circuit 10, and the luminescent wavelength of the luminescent wavelength control type laser diode 8 is controlled so as to be matched with the zero dispersion wavelength of the transmission path. Therefore, no difference due to a temperature characteristic is generated between the zero dispersion wavelength of the transmission path and the luminescent wavelength of the luminescent wavelength control type laser diode 8 in the optical submarine repeater, and both wavelength are controlled so as always to be conformed with each other by the wavelength control circuit 10. Thereby, the dispersion penalty can be reduced. |
