PURPOSE:To prevent unsymmetrical wear of a finish end mill and to improve finish accuracy by cutting the plane of an end plate along a specified finish locus after cutting it along a specified pre-cutting locus, when machining a scroll with bodies protruding on the end plate. CONSTITUTION:A scroll type fluid machine is equipped with a pair of scroll S with spiral bodies 2 protruding on its end plate 1. In machining the scroll S, in this case, the plane 1a of the end plate 1 and the side face of the spiral body 2 located outside the terminal end 2b of the spiral body 2 are machined first with a precutting end mill E1 along a pre-cutting locus L' which is located outside a finish locus L on the outer edge of the plane facing the other spiral body 2. Next, the plane 1a of the end plate 1 and the side face of the spiral body 2 are machined with a finish end mill E2 along finish locus L. By following this procedure, unsymmetrical wear of the finish end mill E2 can be prevented and the finish accuracy of the spiral body 2 can be improved. |
