PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive polypropylene molded piece having a metallic external appearance by forming it of polypropylene, and specific amount or more of uncoupled mica powder contained in the polypropylene. CONSTITUTION:A polypropylene molded piece contains polypropylene and 10wt.% or more of uncoupled mica powder contained in the polypropylene, and has a metallic external appearance. The mica powder preferably has approx. 40-600mum of particle size. If it is less than 40mum, the metallic appearance is scarcely obtained, while if it is larger than 600mum, the surface roughness is increased to reduce the quality of the external appearance and to decrease the mechanical performance of the molded piece. If the content of the mica powder is 10wt.% or less, its metallic appearance cannot be obtained, while if it is 80wt.% or more, the mechanical performance of the molded piece is reduced. The molded piece is molded of a molding material containing the polypropylene and a predetermined quantity of uncoupled mica powder, and the surface of the piece is partly pressurized. Metallic external appearance is strongly presented on the pressurized part of the piece. |
