A seal (1) for sealing a shaft (30) to a sheet of material (8) is provided, the seal having a hollow body (2) to extend through an aperture (7) in the sheet of material (8), an outwardly extending flange (3) on one end of the body (2), at least one first annular sealing element (9, 10) extending radially inwardly of the body (2) for cooperation with the shaft (30) to provide a seal therebetween, a second annular sealing element (12) interposed between the flange (3) and a first face (14) of the sheet of material (8) to seal the flange (3) to the sheet, and retaining means (4, 5, 6) on the other end of the body (2) to retain the body in the aperture (7) and bias the flange (3) towards the first face (14) of the sheet of material (8), wherein the body (2) and the flange (3) are of relatively hard material and the first and second annular sealing elements (9, 10, 12) are of relatively soft material. |
