In a liquid level gauging device such as for indicating the level of liquid butane, propane or ammonia in vessels, a gauging device mounted on the exterior of a vessel 1, provided with an entry port 2, has a conduit 3 coupled by a valve 4 to a datum head 5 provided with windows 6, a pivotal platform 7 operated by a handle 7a, a sprocket 8, over which a tape 10 is passed and which is fitted with a handle 9 the arrangement is such that a cylindrical magnet 12, attached to the end of the tape 10 by a cable 11 and a safety cable 13, has a pull less than the free weight of a float 14, mounted inside the vessel and guided by wires 16, provided with a magnetisable metal element 17 so that the magnet 12 may be detached from the float 14, and withdrawn from the vessel 1. |
