Adjusting device for play-free bearing adjustments in the radial and axial direction of a shaft by means of an adjusting nut

With shafts which have to be play-free, bearing adjustment is a time-consuming operation. In addition, use is made of axial spacers which have to be produced very accurately and are therefore expensive. In addition, there is generally the fact of repeated removal and insertion for the selection of the spacers. The adjusting device eliminates the production of the spacers and adjusting can be carried out rapidly and without problems. In order to meet the requirements of the bearing seat, the adjusting nut is provided with two press fits and the same object is thus achieved as if the bearing ring were pressed onto the shaft against an axial stop. However, the bearing ring can be adjusted with the adjusting nut. This arrangement permits use in the construction of machines, vehicles and transmissions, e.g. wheel bearings in vehicles or spindles of machine tools.
