Plate valve for a fluid medium, especially for a liquid whose flow rate is to be controlled, having a valve housing with an inlet and outlet for the fluid medium, a valve plate which can be moved in a linear manner, counter to a closing spring, in the opening direction and in the closing direction in the valve housing, a valve-plate seat component, a through flow opening in the valve-plate seat component and an actuating drive for controlling the valve plate. The actuating drive consists of an actuating rod and an actuating piston. The actuating rod acts on the valve plate through the through flow opening, coaxially to the closing direction. The actuating piston can be subjected in a controlled cylinder to a control medium. <IMAGE>
