In an economical, non-polluting installation for generating electrical energy by means of electrochemical fuel cells (1), each cell is coupled to a heat exchanger (2) and at least one gas-washing installation (11). The heat generated during the process is recovered by the heat-exchanger (2) and used to operate the fuel cells (1). The fuel residue components and expensive catalyst gas present in the fuel waste gases are separated or recovered in the gas-washing installation (11) and recycled to the fuel cells (1). A second gas-washing installation (20) and additional appliances, in particular microprocessor-based control devices, reduce the operating costs of the energy-generating installation, which is non-polluting and produces virtually no residues.
|
