[Also in Division B8] A nail feeding mechanism for hand-held nailing tools comprises means 60, 62 for supporting a disc 31 holding a plurality of nails 52 aligned in the form of a helix, a nail driving guide sleeve 36 having a slot 100 for receiving an outer portion of the dies with a nail aligned with a driver 38 and a spring mechanism 88 for advancing the disc after each nail driving operation. The disc supporting means 60, 62 is in the form of a shaft 60 passing through a rotatable housing 70 and an elongated slot 58, 80 formed in a bracket 32 and a ratchet plate 78 respectively, the latter ratchet being fixed to the bracket; a pair of pawls 84 is connected to the housing. The spring 88 is connected, at one end, to the shaft and, at its other end, to the housing so that by rotating the housing the spring is wound to thereby cause the disc to rotate as one nail at a time it is driven. As the nails are used up, the shaft 60 moves along the slot 58, 80 towards the driver. The disc, which may be of cardboard, plastic or metal, is provided with helical and radial grooves 46, 48, thereby forming lines of weakness so that a portion of the disc is sheared off as each nail is driven.
