Substituted aminomethylenebis(phosphonic acid) derivatives represented by the general formula, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof : <CHEM> in which R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group "m" is zero or represents an integer from 1 to 4; and a ring "A" represents cycloalkenyl group having 5 to 8 carbon atoms, a bicycloheptyl group, a bicycloheptenyl group or a saturated heterocyclic group having 4 to 7 carbon atoms and containing an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, a sulfinyl group (-SO-) or a sulfonyl group (-SO2-). The compounds have bone resorption inhibitory and anti-inflammatory effects.
