PURPOSE:To obtain practicable high sensitivity characteristics and potential stability characteristics at the time of repeated uses by forming on a conductive substrate a photosensitive layer containing an azo pigment having a specified organic residue. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate contains the azo pigment having a structure obtained by combining an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or aromatic heterocyclic groups optionally through a bonding group with the organic residue represented by formula I in which X is an atomic group necessary to condense with a benzene ring and to form an aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic heterocyclic group; and R1 is an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, thus permitting the obtained electrophotographic sensitive body to be improved in one or both of carrier generating efficiency and carrier transfer efficiency, and enhanced in sensitivity and potential stability at the time of repeated uses. |
