The invention relates to a method of reading a charge-transfer device and the output stage of such a device, the method consisting in performing the reading in two steps: - a first step of transferring the load signal to the element which will serve to read this signal, - a second step of reading proper of this load signal on this element once this signal is established at the output of the follower stage, the method being characterised in that it consists in applying a pulsatile supply voltage ( phi VDD) to the follower stage of the output stage in such a way that this stage is not supplied by this pulsatile voltage VDD except when each of the two steps constitutes a reading operation.
