In the charcoal roaster comprising a roaster case and burner cases, a pair of burner case shelves are pivotally mounted with pins (37) each at the upper corner to the inner wall of the pot belly roaster case, and the bottom end corners of the shelves are respectively joined to scissor bars (40) with pivot pins so as to adjust the distance between the shelves by actuation of the bar opening. With separate charcoal burner cases placed on the resp. shelves, the variation of the distance between the shelves and of the inclination of them adjusts the strength of direct or indirect heating for roasting.
