Apparatus for injecting a liquid, in particular for use in dental care, by means of a jet at an adjustable pressure, comprising a body in two parts and an assembly which can move inside the body in order to create the jet. According to the invention, this apparatus is characterised in that the mobile assembly mounted in the second part 203 of the body 201 comprises a working piston 233 which is subjected to the action of a control spring 241 progressively compressed by an axial thrust piece 276 joined by an elastic diaphragm 280 to the inner wall of a compression chamber 287 joined to a compressed air source, and means for solidly attaching the working piston to a member 269-270 for temporary immobilisation which is provided in the body, coaxially with the piston, such that, beyond a specified range of movement of the thrust piece causing the progressive compression of the spring, the latter is abruptly released and controls the rapid movement of the piston, whilst expelling the liquid to be injected from a metering chamber 243 connected to a carpule 235 forming a liquid reserve. <IMAGE>
